About MTC.

Two trials riders (James Saunders & Heath Brindley) pause together on their bikes in a wooded section of the loop, wearing bright riding gear and helmets, smiling against a backdrop of trees and blue sky.

Magnum Trials Centre is an ACU-backed Pay & Play motorcycle trials venue located in Winchcombe. (Near Broadway)

We offer a 2.5-mile marked loop with a mix of steep hills, rock steps, woodland banks, streams and technical terrain designed for riders of all abilities to ride, test and progress.

Where It All Began.

Back in the 1970s and 80s the Worthington family (townies from Solihull) sat alongside the Reason family (farmers from Winchcombe) every Saturday night at the Brandon Stadium supporting Coventry Speedway.

The families became close friends, and David Worthington was soon spending school holidays at the Reason’s farm, practising motorcycle trials riding - a sport he and his brother Keith took up in the late 70s with support from their parents, Lol and June.

For many years between events David practiced at the farm before hanging up his boots to play football & later to run his own team (Magnum Motorsport) at the British Superbike Championships.

Returning to Trials.

Fast forward to January 2024. David returned to the Trials scene with a 250cc TRS from BVM Moto in Stroud, quickly bringing mates Simon “Seth” Etheridge - an established motocross and enduro rider - and Mark “Styz” Styzaker, a road biker, into the fold and convincing them to buy Trials bikes too.

At David’s first official trial back after 35years away from competition, he met with Matt Larkin also at his first trial following a 30 year lay off resulted in Matt having no choice but to be dragged into the group.

The Offer That Changed Everything.

In the summer of 2024, David’s parents called in at the Winchcombe farm and caught up with Mark Reason (now at the reigns since his parents passing). Numerous conversations later David said to Mark he was looking for a couple of acre site to set up a Trials centre. Mark replied with

“Why do you only want a couple of acres, when I have 350 you can use”?

David laughed it off, then phoned Mark a few days later to ask if he was serious?

Building the Centre.

By December 2024, it was all hands-on deck and in February 2025 the Magnum Trials Centre opened. The Magnum Trials Centre is a ‘Pay & Play’ motorcycle trials centre where both David Worthington and Simon Etheridge are ACU certificated trial clerk of courses.

Why Ride With Us.

  • Two trials riders pass each other near the entrance to the venue, one on a modern trials bike and the other on a classic Triumph, with MTC banners and green hills in the background.

MTC is open to riders of all ages and abilities, whether you’re completely new to trials, looking to sharpen your technique, or just want a great day out on the bike.

The loop offers space to explore, experiment and build confidence - from rocky climbs to twisty woodland, flowing banks and stream sections.

  • A rider on a trials bike climbs a small hill while another rider in red gear steadies the bike’s rear wheel, practising technique on a sunny day at the trials venue.

    What Makes MTC Different

We’re a professionally run trials centre operating within ACU guidelines and insurance, giving riders a safe and structured place to ride.

There’s plenty of room to spread out without feeling pressured by others, and travelling marshals are on hand to offer support, advice and guidance throughout the day. It’s a friendly, welcoming environment that balances challenge with reassurance.
